Joining them on the tour will be virtuosi Russian violinist Vadim Repin and French pianist extraordinaire, Jean-Yves Thibaudet. They will perform two separate concerts at the Perth Concert Hall on 2 October and 3 October respectively.

Andrew Bolt, General Manager of the Perth Concert Hall states: “We are delighted to present this world-class ensemble to Western Australian audiences.  The London Philharmonic is one of the world’s great orchestras and is renowned for the beauty and power of its performances.”

“Audiences in Perth will be thrilled to hear these magnificent concerts under the baton of their outstanding new chief conductor, Vladimir Jurowski, in one of the world’s great acoustic environments - the Perth Concert Hall,” Mr Bolt said.

Vladimir Jurowski joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Conductor in September 2007 after a glittering career as guest at some of the world’s leading music institutions such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Russian National Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera New York and a most successful tenure with the Glyndeborne Festival Opera.

The repertoire for the concerts have been especially chosen for Australia: the first concert will feature Bruch’s most famous work, the Violin Concerto, along with Schumann’s dramatic and passionate Manfred Overture.  Bringing the evening to a close will be Brahms tour de force, Symphony No.1

The second program is no less spectacular, commencing with Rachmaninov’s symphonic poem Isle of the Dead, Ravel’s evocative and flamboyant jazz infused Concerto in G and concluding with Tchaikovsky’s towering and best loved symphony, Symphony No.4.
