Level assessment
Students with some knowledge of French should do the written placement test on the home page of our website and then call our office to arrange an appointment to sit an oral test (free of charge and obligation) to enable us to find an appropriate class. The irak test will take approximately 10-15 mn. Please call us to arange an appointment 9386 7921.

Class levels are based on the 6 stages outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. At the end of each level, students can sit an official French Government Exam in French as a foreign language. See examinations

1. LEVEL A1. Textbook: Alter Ego 1 - Course codes: from 1.01 to 1.08
Aim: To be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
Duration: 120 hours

2. LEVEL A2. Textbook: Alter Ego 2 - Course codes: from 2.01 to 2.08
Aim: To be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks.

LEVEL B1. Textbook: Alter Ego 3. Course code 3.01 to 3.08
Aim: To be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in a French-speaking area.
Duration: 120 hours. 

4. LEVEL B2. Textbook: Forum 3 - Code 4.01 to 4.12
Aim: To be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native French speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
Duration: Approximately 120 hours.

5. LEVEL C1. Textbook: Alter Ego 4 - Code 5.01 to 5.08
Aim: To be able to use French flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
Duration: Approximately 120 hours.

6. LEVEL C2
. No text book.
Aim: To be able to understand with ease virtually everything heard or read, and to express oneself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely.
Duration: Approximately 100 hours.

Levels and corresponding textbooks are just indicative and should not be considered exact.

CLASS SIZE

The maximum number of students per class is usually 13. The Alliance Française reserves the right to cancel a class if there is an insufficient number of enrolments. Payments will be refunded in full in this situation.

Tailor made class at the Alliance Française or in the comfort of your home. One to one tuition allows you to learn according to your exact needs.

IN-COMPANY TUITION

The Alliance Française de Perth can organise French language tuition at your office, tailored to your needs and schedule, for groups or individuals. Please contact the office for details.

IMMERSION IN FRENCH

20 or 40 hours over a week one-to-one tuition tailored to your needs.
4 or 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Lunch in French is included. Please contact the office for details.

COURSES IN FRANCE

To completely immerse yourself in French language and culture, the Alliance Française de Perth can organise classes and enrolments at any of the 11 Alliance Française centres located in France.
