Auteur et éditeur de nombreux articles, David s’est surtout spécialisé dans le domaine de l’analyse textuelle et de la traductologie. En 2019, il a publié un livre sur Paul Valéry et l’acte de traduire aux Classiques Garnier, préfacé par William Marx du Collège de France. Il est également ancien vice-président de l’Alliance française de Perth. David Elder is a member of the Paul Valéry team (ITEM\/CRNS) at the ENS (Paris) where he participates in the genetic analysis of the manuscripts of this eminent thinker\/poet.
