Marie Monnier, aka Josie de Bray, was a Frenchwoman who made her mark on Perth in the early 20th century. As madam of several brothels on the infamous “rue de Roe” in Northbridge, she amassed considerable wealth - and notoriety. Discover the story of Josie de Bray and the history of prostitution in WA at this original exposition at the Alliance Française de Perth. This is the first in a series of expositions exploring the lives of three notable French women with Australian links. This series is presented by Perth French Theatre as part of a project in development for performance in 2023, entitled “Wake Up, Woman!”. PFT will also share insights into the creative process of this project. Join us for the opening night event or drop in to see the exposition. Featuring:
