With Laurence Arthur, journalist & Christine Mathieu, translator of

Baroness Nadine de Rothschild’s book:

Savoir-vivre in 21st Century, a guide to the art of living in France

Saturday 15th August 2015 - 3pm

The Alliance Française is delighted to welcome this event around Nadine de Rothschild and the Savoir-vivre à la française. The presentation will be given in English.

About the book

Savoir vivre, in French, means literally “knowing how to live”. And knowing how to live is more than etiquette, it is more than good manners, and it is also more than the art of living – l’art de vivre. Savoir-vivre is about all of those things, and more: consideration for others, social grace coupled with kindness and respect for all. Charming and provocative, the Baroness Nadine de Rothschild embodies the savoir-vivre à la Française. With wit and vivacity, she instructs her French compatriots on all manners of elegance, from the contents of their wardrobes, to the setting of their tables, and the secrets of their love affairs.

She also appeared in a French TV show called « En voilà des manières !! » in which she judged and taught young women to act like elegant, polite and respected women. In 2004, she opened the Nadine de Rotschild International Way of Life Academy in Geneva.

About Christine Mathieu and Littlefox Publishing

The translation of Nadine de Rothschild’s bestseller was published in March 2015 by Littlefox, a publishing company based in Fitzroy and directed by the French anthropologist Christine Mathieu. She translated and prefaced the guide to give an insight into French society to the Australian readers. She was helped by Laurence Arthur, a French journalist and correspondent based in Melbourne who interviewed Nadine de Rothschild several times.
