🔥DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE MEDALS FROM THE PARIS 2024 GAMES?

To symbolise the identity of the Paris 2024 Games, LVMH jeweler Chaumet was entrusted with the medal design process.
Some of the metallic elements, which have been permanently removed and preserved during various renovations over the years, were incorporated into each Olympic and Paralympic medal as a piece of original iron from the Eiffel Tower.

Both Olympic and Paralympic medals feature the Eiffel Tower iron on one side.

The reverse side of the Olympic medal features the goddess of victory, Athena Nike, and the Panathenaic Stadium, symbolising the revival of the Games in Greece. For the first time, the medal features the Eiffel Tower, connecting ancient Greek origins with Paris 2024.

The reverse side of the Paralympic medals features a unique upward view of the Eiffel Tower. The words “Paris” and “2024” are inscribed in Braille, highlighting accessibility. Engraved dashes on the edge indicate gold, silver, and bronze medals, aiding athletes with visual impairments.

Chaumet has made the medal into a veritable jewel, with a construction conceived around three sources of inspiration:

The Hexagon

Shaped into a hexagon, symbolising France.

Radiance

Reflecting both France's global brilliance and the athletes' stellar performances.

Setting the Gem

The "Clous de Paris" hobnail setting, resembling Eiffel Tower rivets.

🔥DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE PARIS 2024 GAMES?

For the first time in the history of the Olympic Summer Games, the Opening Ceremony will not take place in a stadium and will be held in the heart of the city along its main artery: the Seine.

Taking on a new guise, the parade of athletes will be held on the Seine with boats for each national delegation. Winding their way from east to west, the 10,500 athletes will cross through the centre of Paris. The parade will come to the end of its 6-kilometre route in front of the Trocadéro, where the remaining elements of Olympic protocol and final shows will take place.
The parade will depart from the Austerlitz bridge beside the Jardin des Plantes at 7.30 p.m. CET (10.30 a.m. in Los Angeles, 2.30 p.m. in Rio de Janeiro, 6.30 p.m. in London and 8.30 p.m. in Athens) and make its way around the two islands at the centre of the city (the Île Saint Louis and the Île de la Cité) before passing under several bridges and gateways.

Athletes will be featured on stage during the introduction to and throughout the ceremony as part of Paris 2024’s constant aim to hold Games created for and by athletes.

Fans won’t need tickets to access the upper quays. Holding a ceremony open to a large audience, with no admission fee for most of its spectators, is a major first. Eighty giant screens and strategically placed speakers will allow everyone to enjoy the magical atmosphere of this show reverberating throughout the French capital.

🔥DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL SPORTS AT THE PARIS 2024 GAMES?

Within the scope of the Olympic Games, Paris submitted a proposal to integrate four sports closely associated with young people and to reward creativity and athletic performance. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is keen to set a new standard for inclusive, gender-balanced, and youth-centered Games.

Breaking (making its Olympic debut)

Breaking is an urban dance style that originated in the United States in the 1970s. After achieving resounding success at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Breaking is set to make its Olympic debut.

📍 It will take place at the famous Place de La Concorde in the heart of the French capital.

Sport climbing

Sport climbing is a young, mixed-gender sport that has become immensely popular over the past 20 years. Sport climbing took its first steps on the Olympic stage at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games in 2018. A hit at the youth events, sport climbing then made its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, joining the Olympic programme as a new sport.

Skateboarding

Skateboarding, rooted in 1950s US surf culture and evolving through the rebellious 1980s underground scene, embodies values of freedom and thrill-seeking. By the 21st century, it gained widespread popularity, especially among younger audiences. After debuting at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021, skateboarding will return for Paris 2024.

📍Place de La Concorde.

Surfing

Surfing made it onto the Olympic programme for the Tokyo 2020 Games and will return for Paris 2024.

📍The legendary surfing spot Teahupo’o in Tahiti has been selected as the venue for the surfing competition (nice, right?).

Don’t forget to turn on your TV to watch these exciting new sports!

🔥DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE VENUES OF PARIS 2024 GAMES?

The Paris 2024 Games will be held in the heart of Paris. Regarding the pattern towards sustainability and cost-effectiveness in hosting major sporting events, they opted to utilise 95% of existing or temporary infrastructure for the Games.

The Centre Aquatique is the only sports facility built on a permanent basis.

Several temporary venues will be set up and will be dismantled after the Games. At the end of the event, all temporarily installed materials and structures will be reused or recycled.

7 venues in the heart of Paris during the Olympic Games: at the Trocadéro, the Eiffel Tower, the Champ-de-Mars, the Esplanade des Invalides, the Pont Alexandre III, the Place de la Concorde and the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. Grandstands will also be set up along the Seine for the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

5 venues in the heart of Paris during the Paralympic Games: the Eiffel Tower, the Champ-de-Mars, the Esplanade des Invalides, the Pont Alexandre III and the Place de la Concorde.

The biggest challenge remains to decontaminate the Seine for the planned swimming competitions. Swimming in the Seine is currently prohibited, but the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, is determined to make it possible for the Olympic Games. The aim, beyond the event itself, is to make the river swimmable for all by 2025. As some people remain sceptical as the Olympic Games approach, she and other public figures have stated their intention to bathe in a few weeks' time to reassure the French. What do you think about it?

🔥DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THE ICONIC POSTER OF PARIS 2024 GAMES?

Official posters of the Olympic Games Paris 2024

Designed to illustrate the Games which they represent, the posters are a tradition: since the Stockholm Games in 1912, every Organising Committee has highlighted its symbols through them.

The iconic posters for the Paris 2024 Games were revealed on 4 March 2024 at Musée d’Orsay.

These posters were created by the French illustrator Ugo Gattoni.

With their rich details, they are the dream-like portrayal of a stadium-city, echoing our slogan “Games Wide Open” and reflecting our project’s ambition: to bring sport into the city.

Two thousand hours of work across six months of intense work producing the designs.

It combines the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the first time.

It depicts:

- Symbols of the Games (Olympic rings, the Agitos, Stoke Mandeville, the Olympic motto, medals, etc.).

- Symbols of Paris 2024 (mascots, Olympic flame’s arrival in Marseille on board the Belem, Marathon Pour Tous, boats for the ceremony on the Seine, Olympic parity, iconic competition venues, etc.).

- Iconic elements representing Paris and France (Eiffel Tower, Marianne, Patrouille de France, Paris Metro, River Seine, Arc de Triomphe, etc.).

- The many sports that will be represented at the Games including breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding, surfing, and more.

I wish you a good luck for finding all these elements, it can be tricky!
